WordSmart
CEO is a power word quiz that helps you increase your vocabulary. It automatically
adjusts to your ability, so that you don't have to worry about
setting up lessons, finishing courses, or computing scores. Just install it and
start learning. It also connects to your computer's screensaver
technology so that you can sprinkle learning throughout the workday. |

On the main page, the animated word is shown in in the middle of the screen with a variety of fonts and textures. In the upper left corner, the word is shown in context. Below that are five potential synonyms to choose from. Use the mouse or the keyboard to select the best answer. Try to get as many correct in a row as possible. On the right is your ability scale from A to J. |

When you get an answer correct, the screen shows how many correct in a row you have gotten and your current score. Each word you get correct in a row adds to your
score (1-100 depending on the difficulty of the word). The scale on the right shows the current difficulty of the word. |

When you miss a word, the program clears your score to 0 and shows the correct answer. The difficulty of the next word, shown on the right-hand scale, should move
down slightly for the next word.
Note: The score is just to help motivate you and does not affect
your learning or advancement. |

Before or after choosing the definition for a word, you can press F2 or D on the keyboard to see a complete definition of the word.
You can hear the pronunciation of the word from this screen or the main screen by simply pressing the F3 or P on the keyboard. |

The program allows you to customize the look of the words, as well as the functionality of the program. You can turn sound effects on or off, and determine how long each word is on the screen before going to the next word. Also, if you computer is older or slow, you can set the program to run with minimal resources. |

Hot Corners is also included on the CEO installation CD. It allows you to run the program simply by moving your mouse into the pre-set corners on the screen, or prevent CEO from running by setting other corners to never run the program. |
