General Questions

Is the WordSmart software based on scientific research?

WordSmart Software is based on more than 70 years of research at the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation. Dr. O’Connor showed that vocabulary is the single biggest indicator of success—be it academic, financial, or professional.

Can increasing your vocabulary really increase your IQ?

There are multiple levels to the WordSmart program, how do I determine which level is best for me or my student?

Because each student is different, even students within the same grade level, we have created the WordSmart Challenge placement program. This will be sent as a free gift in your trial WordSmart package and an online version of this test is available. Any student can take this test and at the end of the program it will show what level of the WordSmart series that student should use. We suggest that the student take the challenge 2–3 times and whatever level the challenge suggests most often is where the student should start.

Does the WordSmart product prepare you for both the SAT and the ACT?

Yes, WordSmart is a general knowledge program which will assist students in the preparing for both college entrance exams. WordSmart is so confident the program will help to increase the student's SAT/ACT score that we offer a guaranteed increase on both tests.

How long does your SAT/ACT guarantee last?

You have up to two years after the date of purchase to take advantage of our SAT/ACT guarantee.

Can I exchange my order for a different level?

Yes, but only within the initial 30-day trial period. If you would like to exchange your WordSmart product for a different level please contact the customer service department.

Can I get extensions on my 30-day trial?

Yes, but you must contact customer service, before the end of the trial period, in order to be granted an extended evaluation time.

When can I expect to receive my order?

Your product should arrive five to seven business days after you place the order.

Do I have to pay a shipping and handling cost for this item?

Yes, the cost of shipping both to the customer and back to WordSmart (if the item is returned) is the responsibility of the customer.

There was an insert in my order that said I would receive free gifts for referring friends. How do I get those gifts?

To receive each gift, the friend(s) that you refer to WordSmart must contact us by phone or by completing the online form.

Technical Questions

Where can I find my Product Serial Number/Activation Code?

The product serial number and the activation code are the same thing. The Activation Code is located in two places: on your invoice (right under the list of products you received), and on the sheet attached to you invoice, which says "Attention" at the top of it. On the "Attention Sheet" the Activation Code is in large letters, inside a box. This sheet also has detailed instructions pertaining to the activation of your product. The Activation Code/Serial Number will only needed to be installed one time - additional volumes do not require a key if you already have at least one WordSmart volume installed on your computer.

What if I have technical problems or don’t know how to load the program?

WordSmart offers free technical support to all our customers. Simply write to the technical support department or call 800-641-9673. If a technician is not available for immediate assistance, leave a message and someone will contact you shortly.
